Dr Yinka Akin-Deko is an aesthetic doctor and general practitioner. She is the founder of the DYS Skincare range, an anti-ageing skincare line for skin of colour.
Dr Yinka’s interest in anti-ageing began when she noticed, while working in her busy North London clinic, that her anti-ageing treatments did much more than simply improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on her client’s faces. She noticed it had a remarkable effect on their confidence and mood as well.
Her clients with skin of colour were particularly interested in her non-invasive techniques for achieving flawless skin. Dr Yinka then began a series of Facebook Live videos for a handful of clients to continue sharing knowledge on skincare which she acquired through her medical education and personal study.
The videos rapidly spread in popularity outside her client base. As more and more viewers engaged with her and requested anti-ageing treatment, Dr Yinka decided to create clinically tested products appropriate for skin of colour.
The DYS Skincare range was born. There are four products in the DYS Skincare range. These were carefully chosen to reflect ingredients with decades of research and proven effectiveness. 3. DYS PROTECT SPF 50. Sun protection is compulsory, no matter your skin tone or colour. You need an SPF daily. It’s the secret to a healthy skin in the long run. It reduces the risk of hyperpigmentation and lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage. The DYS SPF50 is broad based and comes in a 50ml bottle. The SPF50 is £30.
4. DYS R+. This is a night serum that reverses skin ageing. Retinol is the ultimate anti-ageing ingredient. It improves fine lines and wrinkles and evens out skin colour and tone. It’s a powerful ingredient in the fight against acne. DYS R+ IS A 1% highly active retinol that’s been scientifically shown to deliver great results. R+ is £80
