What inspired you to create Africa Al’s cooking sauces and pastes?
I am of mixed Nigerian and Irish heritage. I was born in Nigeria and spent much of my life growing up there. My interest in food started young when I used to bake cakes for my elder sister’s birthdays as well as her friends. We travelled widely around Nigeria and West Africa taking in countries such as Ghana, Togo, Cameroon, Dahomey etc. I was always attracted to the markets and fascinated by the local produce and local cuisine. Most of my adult life has been spent here in the UK and I have always been struck by the under representation of West African Food. Just over 2 years ago I decided to embark on a mission to bring this type of cuisine to the wider public in an accessible and easy to prepare way. Thus Africa Al’s was born. The recipes are all my own and are my take on the food of West Africa.
When did you start making Africa Al’s products?

What are the West African spices and flavours you use to create the sauces?
Most of the ingredients I use are widely available in the UK as well as West Africa. Ingredients such as African birds eye chili, onions, garlic, tomatoes etc, with a few secret blends spices.
