There’s no time like the present to start learning a Ghanaian language!
The Ghanaian Language School story

The Ghanaian Language School (GLS) was founded in 2009 by husband and wife Ben and Naomi Fletcher when they became desperate to learn their native languages.
Both London born and of Ghanaian heritage, Ben and Naomi grew up hearing but not speaking the languages.
After years of searching for places and ways to learn, they decided to look into whether this was a problem for others too. The outcome, along with the mission to ensure that this did not happen to their children, propelled them into a year-long drive to develop a curriculum with native speakers and start what is known today as the Ghanaian Language School.
Almost 12 years later and over 500 students strong, GLS has become the go-to place for both adults and children to learn Ghanaian Languages.
“I have completed a number of courses with the Ghanaian Language School and have found their courses to be of superior quality. Their courses provide the structure that is required to grasp the intricacies that can be associated with the main Ghanaian languages.
The material provided by GLS and the level of teaching given by the tutors puts learning Ghanaian languages on par with learning other languages such as French, Mandarin, German and Spanish.”

Relief during the COVID-19 pandemic
In March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, GLS decided to take all learning online. In doing so, current students were able continue learning, and GLS could provide their services to those outside of London, and even as far afield as the US, Canada, The Netherlands and Ghana.
Keeping the classes going has in essence given the GLS team and students something to look forward to every week – taking their minds off the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
GLS provides fun and interactive courses and private tuition in Twi, Ga, Fante and Ewe. All courses take place online via a live secure platform, and students are sent comprehensive learning resources to aid their learning whilst in class and at home.
